I'm at the Monte Amiata, between Val D'Orcia and valleys of Paglia and Fiora. It is so awesome I've been shocked. From what I've heard, is the highest mountain in Tuscany. It has about 1,700 meters altitude and is a volcano which last erupted in produced about 180,000 years ago. At the base are the sources of hot thermal water, with a lot of healing properties that supply known seaside resorts that are in the vicinity. The lower slopes are full of chestnut and beech, and the top is covered with dark forests. That contrast of colorful mountain gives the indescribable beauty.
